German
German is a one-semester course at Year 9 and 10. In this subject students learn to communicate in German, both orally and in writing. They also extend their knowledge of grammar and their cultural knowledge of the German-speaking countries.
Students who continue with German have the opportunity to participate in a student exchange program in Year 10/11 and are given the opportunity to enter the National German Film Competition.
Students can choose to study German in Years 11 and 12 (German Continuers) through Open Access. In Continuers, German students interact with others to share information, ideas, opinions and experiences in the German language. They create texts in German to express information, feelings, ideas and opinions. They analyse texts to interpret meaning, examine relationships between language, culture and identity and reflect on the ways in which culture influences communication.
