Volleyball

Volleyball is a popular, specialist programme at Loxton High School, involving over 250 students from Years 7 – 12, with trainings conducted outside of formal lesson time. This is a huge commitment made by staff, students, parents and community volunteers to run training sessions, before school, after school and at lunchtimes, depending on the year level.

Despite the fact a Volleyball competition does not exist in our town, the game has become extremely popular. Students are able to participate in lunchtime ‘Game Days’ and SASSSA Knockout competitions with the ultimate goal being, the end of year Volleyball tournament. The tournament week is far more than simply playing Volleyball and striving for medals; students get to know the city, visit tourist attractions and conduct and manage themselves in a way which will stand them in good stead for the future.

The success of the Loxton High School Volleyball programme is built on the goodwill of staff and community coaches who give up so much of their personal time throughout Terms 2, 3 and 4. Our students are indeed fortunate to have the opportunity to be involved in such a wonderful personal development activity.
