Technology provide students with the opportunities to develop technological capabilities through planning, developing and refining design concepts, selecting appropriate materials, analysing and providing the correct information, carrying designs through systems to completion and appraising the outcome.
At Loxton High School the Years 8, 9, and 10 Technology curriculum is based on The Australian Curriculum.
Students in Year 8 and 9 undertake set courses with a mixture of Woodwork, Metalwork, Plastics, Systems Technology and Computer Aided Drawing and Manufacture. In Year 10, students may choose from a range of stand-alone units in each of the above areas, as well as Pedal Prix.
Students have the opportunity to work with hand tools, power tools and large machines. They are able to learn to weld, make furniture, fly electric planes , race model dragsters, build objects for the home; all while learning skills of Numeracy, Literacy, Problem Solving, Communication, ICT, Critical and Creative thinking and developing Personal and Social capabilities.
