Loxton High School holds a proud tradition of producing full-scale musicals ranging from the classics to the crowd pleasers, such as Grease, Annie and Oliver to name a few. In 2012, Loxton High School celebrated the 50th anniversary of musicals at the school with a modern rendition of The Sound of Music.
Any student, from Year 8 through to Year 12, who is interested in the Arts, whether it be as a performer or in a technical capacity, is able to be involved. The commitment is huge; rehearsing both Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons for an extended period of sixteen weeks, culminating in a week of performances for the Riverland Community in Term 3.
In addition to students developing their understanding, knowledge and skills in the Performing Arts, the musical provides students with a wonderful opportunity to build self confidence and foster healthy working relationships with their peers, staff and community members. Ultimately, students who experience the musical journey feel a sense of belonging to the school and often create life-long memories that they will treasure forever.
